Thyssenkrupp Presta France was originally known as SOMEFLOR (Société Mecanique de FLORange). Founded in 1975 and formerly part of a Swiss group, the company's main activity was the production of cold-forged parts (shock absorber bodies) from 1976 onwards. In 1978, the company began manufacturing screws and bolts.

From 1983 onwards, the company diversified, combining two activities. It began producing intermediate axles for steering columns.

Adjustable and retractable steering column assemblies. In August 1998, the German industrial group Krupp acquired SOMEFLOR, and the company became Krupp Presta France.

3 years later, in 2001, the company ceased all press activity and concentrated solely on the assembly of steering columns for the automotive industry. In 2002, the company became Thyssenkrupp Presta France.

In 2003, Fameck became our second production site. It was created in response to the increase in production output and the consequent installation of additional assembly lines.

In 2007, Thyssenkrupp acquired its third site in Florange. Originally intended as the Group's logistics platform, since 2011 this plant has housed the lines for assembling racks.

In 2012, we integrated a new product into the company: Racks. Primarily for our customer Daimeler.

On September 1, 2017, the installation of 25 Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) took place. A project costing over €4 million, it confirms thyssenkrupp Presta France's ambition to become the pilot site.
